Kermit needs to tell you that one.... 

A few that was taken

Last night I installed an ABS cover into my engine bay.  The dipstick was getting in my way putting one of the screws in so I pulled it out and set it up on a shelf, and then forgot to put it back in before I dropped the hood.

The first sign of trouble today was when a state cop pulled me over on 294.  He noted then that it seemed like a little smoke was coming out from under the hood, but I was too busy wiggling my way out of getting popped for doing 25mph+ over the speed limit to worry about it then.

When we got to the venue and the hood was up it was noted that there was oil all over the underside of the hood.  Looking closer there was also oil smoking off the hot engine some.  That's when it was noted that there was a certain element that was missing.  I think it became the hit of the picnic as almost everyone there came over at one point or another to check out the car missing the dipstick.  I cleaned up the mess as much as I could there, and made sure the car still had enough oil in it, but then an effort to come up with a way to plug it back up so I didn't have oil spray back up in the engine bay while driving home. Multiple ideas were tossed around but Jim's pic was the end result.

Dumb mistake for sure, but that's what I get for working on my car when both of my Mastiffs want to be fed, too much distraction.

Yup.. Kermit had a rough day today, felt bad for him. More pics to add to James cool ones..

GSB06RT kept offering to steal one out of another car for me but I thought there had been enough embarrassment today without the CAMM name being soiled over a stolen dipstick.

I do appreciate that. Glad the car seems to be ok.

I woulda just said I wanted to compare it to mine real quick...

So as Paul my feel this is a mistake,and not exactly happy we have shared this info. I see it as a memory. And a story to be shared. For the record He won a cleaning kit at at the picnic, So much a karma intervention,,, this will help in his cleanup needed, we now have a memory to share as a group.. Every thing happens for a purpose this is just one story. Kermit lives as a reminder that it happens

I think as a tribute to him , we should all remove are dipsticks at every show from now on.....

A little messy towards the rear of the engine bay but fine. I've already cleaned up most of it. If I had been running my half covers I doubt there would have been any burning oil. I gotta cut and paint those and get them back on.

Oh I've fucked up much worse than this in the past, but usually it's not as public as it was today. Nothing you can do but laugh about it. Jerry is worrying me a little though with is proposed dipstick salute.

lol..ask me about the time I was at a show and a guy came in dragging his entire exhaust behind him, your dipstick delete was nothing compared to that lol. We all were sitting their in our chairs watching him like this

Great car man, I told a friend of mine how cool everyone's cars were and how kind all of you were, was great fun I enjoyed it!

Yeah that was a fun memory for sure. That cleaning supplies kit came in handy. Still smiling about it here at work. Anybody got some more pics I forgot to take some.

Yes, that was cool lol, and the reaction of the crowd was funny too.  

Paul I hope you see this is not meant as a negative thing.... and Jerry you were very cool. Hope to spend time with you any time!!   If you guys take this a negative I am so sorry never meant that at all..... had a great time today.... and hope that is shared by all..

Ya I was more concerned for him when I was following him over and I kept seeing these little puffs of black smoke coming from under his car. Enjoyed chatting with you as well and Leslie, great people! Next weekend will be my turn to make the cannonball run through Illinois, hope I make it, looking forward to it.

lol, dude I have Kermit the frog painted on my TA scoop, and go to car shows wearing Kermit stuff and with a stuffed 5' kermit the frog that I put in my drivers seat. Do I hit you as being an overly sensitive fellow?

Ha yup! Again for those that weren't there I won a raffle prize for coming to the show. Everyone was given a ticket. When they listed off the prized the NWIMA guy (Jerry I think) let people pick tickets from the bag for the winners. It just so happen that when the guy asked my brother to pick a ticket guess which one out of all the other he chose: Mine with the matching number. I think that was the uproar in the crowd chimed in. Anyways I won a 50% off certificate for a Flowmaster item of my choice. Still surprised as all hell. And yes Paul my brother got his big dinner before I left for work. My mother was against the strippers idea so no go there.

I want to thank Hurst Pak (Paul) for putting this event on and all the hard work you put into it, from the setup, food and door prizes. I can't wait for next year and I'll bring 3 bags of ice for you.

Cool good to know     I then propose an official end of the "Francis" nickname and suggest "Dip Stick"   anyone second that suggestion?
