So, I was in the market for a new Challenger and thought I found a good deal at the St. Charles Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership. Went in on a Saturday, test drove the car, and spent time with the salesman and the sales manager. We negotiated the sale price for the new car ($35,600, before taxes and fees) and the trade value for my '06 Charger ($8,000). They even agreed to swap my Michelin all-season tires onto the new Challenger. It was all fun and good. I left with handwritten notes with the understanding that I would secure financing from my bank and be back the following Wednesday to close the deal.

I showed up on Wednesday with my car title and a cashiers check from my bank in-hand. The sales manager (a different guy than the one I spoke with on Saturday) shows me the Bill of Sale. Problem is the asking price for the new Challenger is now $2,700 higher than the price we negotiated. Thus, he expects me to pay more out-of-pocket. He says the Saturday sales manager neglected to account for certain fees and rebates that could not be discounted from the car price. When I said there was no way I was going to pay more than I had already agreed to, the manager said there is no way he can honor the deal. He even said he was sorry we could not work the deal after all. He may as well of said "get out of my face, loser!" Well, I left, completely mortified.

Next problem was that I now had a car loan with my bank but no car to show for it. Luckily, the banker was somewhat understanding but I still had to pay off the loan including a loan processing fee and a days worth of interest. At least they waived the penalty for paying off the loan early.

All-in-all, I have to say this experience blew. I definitely will not do any business with that dealership, and I recommend you stay away as well.

That sucks, sorry to hear that. If your still in the market try Feeney in Elgin. Ask for Ron and tell him you know Shawn and Tammy Shockey. Ron is a super cool guy to deal with, if you go let me know and I will give him a heads up. Next time you agree to something with a salesman, leave $100 deposit and get sales manager to sign off on everything you agreed to.

They don't call them "stealerships" for nothing. I know someone whose parents refuse to go anywhere but a dealership and I just smh at them. Love to show them I can get exact same part for much cheaper elsewhere. You didn't say but if it was an SRT you were looking at you should definitely call them (SRT) they are a separate entity from Chrysler altogether, no matter what year if it has a SRT VIN they will handle it. I had a beef with Napleton River Oaks a couple years ago and they got involved and got me a free SRT Track experience day.
Even if it was not a SRT I'd have called Chrysler and had them get involved. If you had a written understanding then they should at the very least call the stealership and ring their bell a little. You have nothing to lose at this point, make them sweat some.
