So, im driving home from dinner at my dad's place, get to red light, first off, im not even sure why the light was red in the first place, considering there were no cars, and it's a magnetic sensor intersection. Anyway, so im sitting there, minding my own waiting for the light to change, when I notice some headlights in my rearview mirror. I've been rear ended before, so I've become accustomed to watching my rearview mirror when someone approaches from behind. Tonight, I see the whole thing unfold before my eyes. A woman driving an 06 camry, my red tail lights in her face, moving to quickly to stop in time. I real quick mash on the gas and try to floor it through the red to avoid getting hit, but shes moving just to quick. CRASH!!!! Im watching as my car gets punched in the kidneys at id say about 15mph. So i throw the car in park, and get out. She says out the window "Im so sorry". Now my first reaction to these things is a mean one and i respond with a very sarcastic "Damn right you're sorry". It just so happens at this point, im reaching for my cell phone which i wear on my belt. To which i later find out she thought i was reaching for a gun. So i call the police up, and I order her to pull onto the side street so as to not obstruct traffic, and we'll wait for the police. Some cops pull up, and start investigating, these arent the ones dispatched to the call, but they're doing the intial stuff. With a squad behind me, i use his headlights to look at the damage. This is where the title comes in. For the speed at which id say i was hit, our cars are built OVERWHELMINGLY tough!!! At most, i might need to get a new bumper cover, but most places will probably just epoxy fill, sand and, paint. Even the wrap around side of the cover didnt pop out like you see happens on most cars. No dimples that need to be popped, doesnt appear that any mountings need to be replaced (now i havent given it a good look yet since its dark). All ive got are a few holes from the license plate, and some scratches. I will also say this to the toughness of our cars, when she hit me, I could almost feel her car breaking apart, while mine just stood there like a brick wall. That, along with her telling me how nice of a car I have made me feel at least a little better about the situation. So now ive gotta deal with insurance companies and their crap to get this shit repaired, oh the joys of a car accident.
