Got this today:

My name is Jim Campbell and I am the Car Show Director for Monster Mopar Weekend at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Illinois. I would very much like for your group to attend our show if possible. If I know you have a large group coming, we can make arrangements to have you all parked together. We do offer a Club Trophy for the Club with the most members attending. We are now averaging over 700 cars for our show which is one of the largest in the Midwest. Take a look at our website www.monstermopar.com.

I hope that you are able to bring a group to our show in September!

PostSubject: Re: MONSTER MOPAR WEEKEND- Madison, IL   MONSTER MOPAR WEEKEND- Madison, IL I_icon_minitimeJune 25th 2010, 3:35 pm

2010 Drag Racing Information

Below are a few of the facts you should be aware of.

• Gateway International Raceway is a NHRA track, and all vehicles racing will receive a thorough tech inspection. Safety is paramount, and there will be no exceptions made. Please refer to NHRA's rules for the speeds that you will be running -- and that you have all of the required safety equipment, certifications, and licenses to run at that speed. Should you run faster than the speed that your car is certified for -- you will be asked to visit Race Control in the tower.

• Liability Waiver: Entry to this event does not make SS Promotions, Gateway International Raceway, or any event Sponsor, Their agents or employees liable for any damages whatsoever to you, your vehicle, or your belongings. Your failure to read or sign this release does not constitute a liability.

• Race entry includes one 3-day pass and one pit parking pass.

• NSS race entry includes Saturday Night Dinner for the driver and one guest.

• Only those who have pre-registered may arrive Thursday to set up their pit. The gates generally open to do this at 1PM.

• Children under 12-years old are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. All others arriving with the racer on Thursday of Friday must purchase a three day event pass.

• NSS entries are required to have a NSS tech inspection immediately after they've completed their NHRA tech inspection. This is performed at the back of Doug Duell's pit. Should you have any question about the NSS rules, please contact Doug Duell at 812-473-0215.

• There are 70+ NSS racers in the Dave Duell Classic, and that they need to pit together since they self-administer that racing class. The pits on the far side of the staging lanes and the first row (both sides) of pits closest to the staging lanes is reserved solely for Nostalgia Super Stock racers, and special Exhibitors. It is the only way that NSS is able to match up the various classes within NSS, and promptly line up in the staging lanes. Your understanding and full compliance to this is appreciated.

• Friday is generally for test and tuning

• Saturday has limited Time Trial times scheduled, and primarily for Qualifying. Some of the classes have their eliminations on Saturday.

• Sunday has limited Time Trials, and is mostly eliminations.

• The gates open at 8AM. It is suggested that you arrive at that time on Saturday and Sunday as racing starts early.

• The track is always very well prepped and cars hook. The track eats transmissions and rear-end that are less than optimal. A word to the wise is to ensure attention to this area is paid prior to bringing a hard hooking car to the track.

• Drag racing at the Monster Mopar Weekend is efficiently run to keep the groove warm and sticky. Should you have an oil-down, pull the car to the wall and stop as soon as safe as to oil-down a minimal amount of the track, and reduce the clean-up time required to get racing started again.

• SS Promotions reserves the right to change or modify the race program at any time due to circumstances beyond our control.

• No shirt sales without prior approval.

Important Rules For Drag Racers
Please read the rules for the class you wish to enter prior to registering for that class. For instance, the rules for Nostalgia Super Stock have some substantial changes this year. Knowing which class your car is legal in will save a lot of last minute changes at the track.

PostSubject: Re: MONSTER MOPAR WEEKEND- Madison, IL   MONSTER MOPAR WEEKEND- Madison, IL I_icon_minitimeJuly 7th 2010, 5:31 pm

I'm trying to put together a cruise down to this show. Here is a basic idea I'm working with.

I'm trying to get this set up. Right now I'm working on a good starting point but I would like to go down on friday probably leaving this area around 9:00am. I want to go down I-55 with a couple small bypasses on old rt 66. I'm hoping to make it an all day type of cruise with stops for lunch, ga, etc. I want it to be open to all Mopars new and old since we are all under one banner. If this is something you guys would be interested in please let me know. Mopar Collectors guide post a video on their site of the cruise also.

Now that I can't go to Mopars on the Mississippi and will not be heading to VA in Sept I am about 99% sure about hitting this.

Would be in for the cruise down for sure. If you need any help planning this out just let me know.

Very cool we went down to this show last year it's a good one. We are going to the one in Belvidere next weekend.

If you get a chance in March is Mopars at the Strip in Vegas. It is by far my favorite, 3 days of show, racing, a couple good concerts just a all around great time.

Ok guys I really want to make this happen. Please help me by spreading the word to any mopar people you see.

I'll keep everything updated with anything new. My wife and I want to get dash plaques made up for the cruise and make this a annual event. I'm a coadmin on rumblebee.org I trying to get some of those guys into this also.

I want to hit as many sites and shows as possible. I'll be happy with any amount of cars but from this area I'd like to get at least 50. I heard about this site from Jim at Monster Mopar it seems like a good site with alot of local people. I can't believe I haven't been on here before.

Once you get all the details we can make up fliers and pass them out at shows, normally a few of us go to something every weekend. Just an idea. I will also promote it on the Facebook page and the Twitter account for ya.

Cool I waiting on a call from South Oak Dodge about maybe starting it there. If not I'll come up with something else but it won't be long. We hit alot of shows in the area too I was going to get flyers made up as soon as I get more info together. We had my truck in 30 shows last year but I'm trying to cut back a little.
