Mopars on the Mississippi - Dubuque, Iowa

Wow! The details! LOL I hope y'all find a great place to park. Wish I knew that area better. Heck we lived around there for 5 years. LOL I stayed home ALOT! :p

Ok so I am thinking this place if we go to Mopars on the Mississippi.

Emailing them to see about group rates. Will look at checking in Saturday (day before the show) and checking out on Monday.

The show site is less then 2 miles from this place.

They have reg rooms and suites and a waterpark so its family friendly.
I also searched the area and there is a casino and plenty of bars within walking distance of the hotel.

So need to know who is interested and if this looks ok.

I would like to go hopefully we can make a mini vacation out of it.

That seems like a good idea. If the rates are good, I should be able to go.

From what I saw on the site a room with two double beds was $109 but that was without any sort of discount. I did send them an email hopefully they will actually answer me.

I have been having a string of bad luck with getting people to email be back about things lately.

Thats not bad at all. I just saw the dates for this and thats the same weekend i am supposed to be in Vegas. But im not 100% sure I can go to Vegas this year. I wont know till it gets closer to the show.

Since I'm off the rest of the week, my plan is to call this chick until I get to talk to her. Otherwise, I'm going to check to see what else is in Galena since it's so close to Dubuque.

I know that several people are interested in making this a weekend roadtrip so PM if you are interested in attending. I'm really going to try to get a group rate for a hotel or BnB and it would be nice to know the interest level.

After lotsa looking into this tonight on the internet, I think the best most cost effective way to go is to rent a house. It would be much cheaper.

So, really, PM me as soon as possible if you are interested. I'm planning on getting rates for a 6 bedroom house for the night of Friday, August 20, Saturday, August 21, The show is on Sunday and then I figured we would leave for home afterwards.

What I have been seeing so far is that renting a house for those 2 nights would be about $1600 split between everyone is MUCH cheaper than even a group rate would be. Plus all of them have pool tables and game rooms so we have our own entertainment.

These are the ones that I'm looking at. And after looking at the numbers a bit more it does come to be pretty much equal to staying in a hotel. The difference is that we can all be together, have a cookout and pretty much just "party" all weekend and not have to worry about buggin' other people.

MOPARS ON THE MISSISSIPPI
Leave after the show and cruise home

How long is the ride?

3 hours from my house (well, maybe a little less LOL). Its a nice cruise though cuz its mostly on country-ish roads and through small towns.
