i left my back windows up for like 6 months when i had them done. now that they are black i don't want to roll em down. lol. i always cruise front windows down and sun roof open now.

30% is the darkest you can go for every window
anything darker than 30% on your rear windows and no tint is legal on the driver/passenger windows.
a 6" strip on the windshield is legal.

i forget where i read this but i stumbled upon it searching one day. some ill.gov website i think.

Well as far as I know this is the law, unless they changed it again since Oct.

Drivers in Illinois can now install window film on vehicle front side windows. There are three options under the new law, one of which is specific to SUVs:
Minimum Visible Light Transmission (VLT) of 35% on front side windows and rear windows;
50% minimum VLT on front side windows and 30% minimum VLT on rear windows; or
For SUVs and other multi-purpose vehicle owners with factory installed privacy glass on rear windows, 50% minimum VLT on front side windows.
Illinois drivers continue to have the option of darker privacy film (less than 30% VLT) on rear windows, but may not install film on front side windows if rear windows are less than 30% VLT.
A 5% variance has been drafted into the amended law.
