392 Hemi ticks and shakes a little

Hi guys,

since i got my Charger Scat Pack, I noticed that the engine shakes a little bit if i start the car and the engine ticks as well from 1800RPM to 3000RPM, have 1400 miles on it now and it does it from the beginning.

I can hear another sound coming from the engine, sounds like the manifold is leaking or is that normal as well? If yes, it is a very noisy engine, but no nice noises.

Is there any way for me to find out if something is wrong with the engine by myself, cause I don't trust the dealerships...

Others with more knowledge will chime in but I know my 5.7 ticks, always has since the day I bought it.

I changed my oil with a full synthetic ( Amsoil ) on my 2013 Challenger 392 and it did a good job of quieting down the Hemi tick.

Tick is pretty common, some oils quiet it down and others dont. I have always used Mobil 1 and just started using Penzoil full synthetic and neither quiets it down.

my 6.1 has always had a pretty noisy valve train. I would suspect that what you are hearing is normal. You could pull the valve covers and give everything a good look for piece of mind, but probably not worth it. I used Mobil 1 0w40 for 8 years, and now Penzoil Ultra, they both sound the same to me. I can't speak to the shaking as my car shakes...a lot.

That's the stuff. Use that and an Srt oil filter.

Yep as mine has aged the tick has gotten louder. The last 6 years its been nothing but Mobil 1 synthetic in mine. Mine only shakes when there is a traction issue.

Yeah i have been told that it was the injectors but not for sure. Since I have put on my procharger the ticking noise has gone away but now I have a very nice whining noise that drowns out the ticking.

Mine has a whining noise too but that is only when I have a passenger in the car.

So i still have this annoying ticking while accelerating from 1300rpm up. Did an oilchange to AMS oil 0W40, which is certified for that engine, no change. The mechanic at the dealership said he can´t hear anything. I have recorded the noise from the inside of the car, hopefully somebody can figure out what it is. Very clearly noticeable from 0:30 to the end.

sounds like a lot of things. hard to tell from a recording of that quality. could even be an exhaust leak. header bolts are known to snap and cause leaks on the 5.7 rams and it kinda sounds like that.

Dealership told me, that noise is normal. If I want to try to fix it, i have to open a star case at chrysler.
I just gave these fuckers $42.000 and thats all they want to offer me...

is your dealership a 5 star? i have found every dealer that is not a 5 star to be horrible for warranty work. Downers Grove Dodge blew me off a couple times a few years ago when i bought a truck from them. drove down to Naperville Dodge which is a 5 star dealer and they took care of me. actually just had my new truck into Naperville Dodge last month for a warranty issue. they did a great job taking care of me and i bought the truck in Omaha.
