Its time to take my Liberty to get emissions tested, well by December I have to get it done. The check engine light was always an issue since I picked it up in FL last year (P0420 and P0430 codes) and its because we were pretty sure the cats are gutted due to the abuse the Jeep was put through.

Tried the O2 fouler trick (of course it was a pain in the ass) and the light stayed off from Sunday until today. Then on the way to work DING. Same codes. So thinking I might as well replace the O2 sensors and the cats on the truck. The sensors were sooty black and kinda bent when they were pulled out.

Emailed Twisted Pipes and looking around on the internets but wanted to see if anyone else had any ideas where to look. I do not want to spend an arm and a leg on the exhaust but I want whatever I get to make the damn codes go away. I know Velasquez and Sons is another shop that is always recommended. Not sure if I should try to get direct fit or universal fit and then take them to a shop and let them deal with getting them on the car or just go to a shop let them tell me what to get and go from there.

Cats are pretty expensive from my past experience, including Valasquez. Maybe try the 02's first before replacing cats. If not I can ask my buddy Jeremy who has HP Tuners software if there is anyway he can trick the computer to be in ready state just too pass

Talked to Jeremy he suggested going to Merlins, cheapest way. I have been pricing cats and they really are not that bad. I am off Monday so going to hit a few local places for estimates.

Have you considered making your own cats? I think they are essentially large cans stuffed with rags.
