| Are any of you familiar with The #CarConnect from https://avidcode.com/SharpCar/Connect
This device is yet another programming tool that will do a LOT of things!
Most notably it will unlock the SRT Performance Pages, provide SPORT mode to those that don't have it and allow the ability to activate most factory options. Plus much more.
There is a lot of conversation about this over on www. charger forum z . com look for AVIDCODE in the vendors section. (I typed the URL like that due to some strange thing with this browser)
Once I receive mine, I will let you know how it works, and if it truly does everything they claim, this thing is going to be awesome!

Your car may be old, but it looks great in your signature pics!

| These guys are also working on a separate product for cars with adaptive cruise control that will allow true stop and go adaptive cruise control. What this will do is if you are in rush hour traffic and going at speeds under 30 mph, the car will automatically stop before hitting the car in front of you, then go again once the car in front has reached a certain distance away from you. This could take a lot of stress out of stop and go driving. | |

I would be stressed out the whole time. My lil brother has that shit on his 14 Subaru. He scared the fuck out of me first time I went for a ride with him. He went straight on towards a parked car at like 25mph. Fucking thing stopped on a dime on its own. I was pretty impressed. My truck has some shit similar but I'm afraid to try it

To who? Sure the fuck not me If you find stop and go driving stressful, then you're living in the wrong place! I just find it annoying. Sometimes very annoying.

I got a feeling I'm gonna be experiencing it too pretty soon. Maybe I should pack an extra set of underwear in her car.

It's not always a matter of where you live but where you gotta get to. I find it both stressful and annoying. Of course if all the damn bastard would just get off the road when I'm using it, problem solved.

I would be stressed out the whole time. I'm one of the guys developing this. Let me tell you, sometimes this is exactly how I feel - because sometimes it DOESN'T! It's pretty reliable now, but some of the earlier software builds would randomly stop working! Gotta find the bugs somehow, and it's hairy being the guinea pig for something like this. It's almost ready now, but it needs to be bulletproof before we can release it. We don't want to have to include a pair of Depends in the box!

I've been writing software for embedded systems for almost 15 years. If you have SW bugs that are that egregious, then it's fair to say that you have plenty more that are more subtle lurking in the background.

| We had some problems with the early prototypes that were caused by simply not having enough processing power. The timing is critical, because if a message isn't sent out at just the right time, the car is smart enough to shut the whole system down until you restart.
Our hardware wasn't powerful enough to keep up with everything, and we needed to work on creating the right masks and filters to let the system ignore unnecessary traffic. We've gotten past that point point now, and the communication and processing is quite stable. I haven't had a software crash or needed to reboot for a couple of months now. Our original proof-of-concept was done on a computer, which could deal with anything we threw at it, but as we began using microcontrollers, we realized that we needed to be a lot more selective.
Our main issue now is that we haven't yet implemented all of the code that decides whether or not the car can stop in time on its own, because we shifted our focus onto another product for now. As soon as we can devote more time on this, we will be able to finish it up.
The system is designed so that it will not automatically apply the brakes beyond a certain g-force level, so the OEM implementation will determine if it cannot stop in time and flash the EVIC screen and sound an alert so you know you need to take over. We can apply as much brake power as we want, but we've got it tuned down as low as the OEM settings right now, and we haven't determined how aggressively we want to let it control the braking. In the meantime, we've also disabled the collision warning on the prototypes so that we can get a feel for how the system behaves without listening to the alarms.
It's a little scary when it's right on the edge of the limits, when the car is braking as hard as it can and you're not quite sure if it's going to make it or not. There is a "highway" I drive on daily that has a 65 MPH limit but lots of stoplights. When the car in front of you is braking hard and the ACC is braking as high as its allowed to, I try to let it do it's job as much as I can, but so sometimes I've got to take over anyway. I suppose I'm exaggerating the "scary" factor, because the distance is maintained very well and it's usually a decision that happens below 20 MPH, but it happens often enough on that road that it still requires you to be very alert when using it.
As soon as we're able to devote more time on it, we'll fine tune the math so that the car knows immediately if it can't decelerate enough and re-enable the audio and visual warnings, and maybe give it a bit more braking power. We'll also adjust the acceleration, so you can have a more "spirited" resume if you like.
In normal stop-and-go traffic, it's awesome though. Very nice to let the car take over when traffic is creeping along at 5MPH on the highway.

| It took a while, but my #CarConnect finally arrived in the mailbox today! I opened it up, plugged it in and within a couple minutes my 2013 RT + AWD now has the following features enabled:
- SRT Performance pages on both the EVIC and 8.4N - SPORT mode ! - In Motion Navigation (I can now have full functionality of Navigation functions while driving) - Fog Lights on with High Beam - Light Show (all lights flash like an emergency vehicle, not practical but fun!) - TCU Reset Function - The ability to enable any factory option at the press of a button!
This thing is amazing... the guys at Avidcode are now looking to see what else can be done...I can't wait!

| Yes, it is married to the car. And, yes your 2011 does have some of the features. Unfortunately the 2011's did not have the same level of technology gadgets as the 2012, 13, 14. For example, the 2011 8.4 Display is not equipped from Dodge with the SRT Performance Pages, thus they cannot be enabled. But, you could swap the display for one from a 2012 and it would work fine. | |
