Air Bag Warning Light is On Empty
PostSubject: Air Bag Warning Light is On   Air Bag Warning Light is On I_icon_minitimeDecember 18th 2014, 12:48 pm

Anybody have any ideas why my Air Bag Warning Light is on? This just started about a week ago and it's weird. When someone is sitting in the passenger seat, there are no warning lights on. When the passenger seat is empty, the red warning light is on along with the amber light that says the "passenger air bag is off". The car is 8 years old now. Maybe an electronic gremlin?

mine has been on for a few years now... lol. i have been meaning to replace my bad sensor.

did you ever un bolt your passenger seat? that can throw off the calibration. if not you might just have a bad sensor.

there are a couple sensors and strain gauges in it. it could be one of a couple sensors. there are like either 2 or 4 small cheap sensors and one more expensive one. i can't remember how many sensors it is for sure off the top of my head. it does need a re calibration after replacing the sensors also with a star scan tool.

Mine's been on for a while, too. Did a fast start with a passenger next to me and it's been on for that seat ever since. It is annoying, but it takes the dealer to fix it.

The part you probably need is a sensor like jontoad said it cost around $110 at the dealer (probably a $30 or cheaper part in reality) I had a cardiac arrest almost when I was restoring my SRT cost me over $500 at a stealership. Hang on to your wallet man.
