Talked to CPC. Doesn't look like they are willing to do a group buy on a group of us getting our rims done together. Still charging $240 for all four and its about a week turn around on rims. I don't think the price is bad, the quote I got from the place Bosak uses was redonk.

I am going to try to wait until April before I take mine. Figured two weeks before Cinco I should be ok.

Here is their site http://cpcpowdercoating.com/ if anyone wants to check them out.

So they did yours once but you already need them done again? That's not a good sign. That price is cheap I've shopped around and gotten much bigger quotes usually nearly double that.

I guess it all comes down to how well they prep the rims. I've been told that the rims should be soda blasted, anything bigger like sand or walnuts etc. will cause pitting and the powdercoat won't look very good. The places that generally soda blast aren't cheap.

I'm considering running my future summer set of wheels without powdercoating but I really do want them black.

Budget is pretty tight these days hard to justify especially when I need to get a set of tires too heh.

A car hit my rim while we were going 60. I would expect damage from something like that no matter what was on the rim.

I loved how they turned out the first time which is why I'm not hesitating going back.

I forgot about your accident. My 18s are powdercoated and have a few nasty marks from when lug nuts have had to be extracted. Nothing too bad but I imagine if I got hit going 60 it wouldn't be pretty.

the rims CPC did for me are great quality. regardless of their low price they do legit work. mine were a 3 step and not just a single color too. i have just decided they are not the color i want when they are in the shade and i will be getting mine re-done also. they look great in artificial light or direct sunlight, just not the right color for the car in the shade. i wanted them to be red all the time. my fault for choosing a black base instead of red before the red flake was put on. the combo with the black base looked good online, and it does in pictures. just not in the shade on the car.

i might have them re-do the same thing with a red base, or i might have them hydro dip them in carbon fiber print if it is the same price. not sure yet.

I have to figure out when I am taking mine out there. Just have to borrow someones wheels for a week. Then get my black ones removed and the tires pulled then the borrowed ones put on.

What a pain. Sad

Glad to hear the quality is there. I just want basic flat or satin black, probably should do it now never will be an easier time since I have the wheels with no tires right now.

I picked up my wheels from CPC today (no I don't have pics yet!). I got them in a texture black and they look good, really hide the slight rash and the few gouges around the lug holes.

The question I have now is that when I was test fitting my BT center caps they didn't sit flush due to the texture. It wasn't a big deal I can crank them down I'm sure but it got me to thinking about how the wheel mates to the hub and how the lug nuts will seat.

Am I over thinking this or should I try to sand the wheels where it meets the hub face?

we use a cookie buffer on the backs of wheels and a cup brush in the bore. sometimes it has to be done to powder, it is not uncommon. thick paint on refurbished wheels does the same thing too.

Does anyone know if CPC cleans up any curb rash?

You can call them and ask but my gut says no not really. They'll blast the wheels but if you have bad rash it might show. I got their texture black but I can still see the few areas that had chisel type gouges near the lug hole etc.

buy a crappy grinder from home depot or a dremel tool and just grind or sand the areas flat before you give the wheels to them. if the curb rash is only one or two millimeters deep than removing that amount of material from the rim has no structural effect.
