| Have a friend who has a 2006 300C with about 150000ish miles. We were leaving this evening and he said he has to let the car run for 10 minutes or the car wont go in drive. He thinks the fluid just needs to be changed. Me I think the tranny is just about toast. What do you all think? Also he said once it warms up the tranny acts pretty much normal, WIERD!!! | |

| The fluid might be low. My blazer used to do the same thing and it was low on fluid. Not saying that's the problem but it's worth it to have the level checked. | |

| I know we are talking two different type cars/transmissions... But my 04 Stratus was doing something similar at 140xxx... It would take a few minutes before it would want to catch so I could go... Went to a local shop and had the transmission fluid and filter replaced. Runs a lot better now and no hesitation like before and now I'm sitting at 176xxx miles on it... | |

| Thanks guys, I called him and said I dont mean to be a smart ass but have you checked the fluid level lately? After a long pause on the phone he said that would be great if that takes care of the problem. He also sounded a little embarrassed he didnt check that first. | |

Yeah they dont come with the dipstick but you can make your own using a 4' long ziptie. There is a thread on LXforums showing which ziptie to use and where to put your level marks. I made one when I changed my trans fluid and filter. It worked pretty good and only cost $2 to make, lol.

| you can make the dip stick like joey said.... however, from what I recall reading... its more complex on our transmissions than just checking fluid level... the dealerships have a chart/scale they follow depending on the trans fluid temperature.... so if your transmission is at 175*F your fluid level will be "X" on your stick... but if your trans temp is up at like 205*F, your level will be at "Y" on your stick, and so on..... | |

| Yeah it depends if temp is hot or cold.. I ran out and took a quick pic of my trans dipstick. | |

| The only correct method is to use the Miller Tool. Mercedes Benz is one fucked up company, lol. Who ever heard of a vehicle coming without a trans. dipstick? | |

Blah ha ha... I don't know that anyone would openly admit to something like that... That would be cause for some serious ball busting for the rest of their life... Lmao

| Saw my friend last weekend and asked him about the tranny. He said the local tranny places were complete dickheads so he took it to the dealer he bought it at, they pulled it right in and found a module was leaking, they replaced the module and filled it with fresh fluid and $142 he was good as new. Not many good news stories out there so I thought I would share one. | |

| To properly check the level on a NAG1 you need to know the temp of the trans fluid. Just having the dipstick won't be of much help.
That being said, I have a scanner and dipstick if anyone needs to get the level checked. Last time I checked, the dealer charges for a level check.
