Somerset Kentucky Cruise Night (gaging interst)

I am thinking about using some of my vacation time this year to hit up a cruise in Kentucky my friends keep telling me about.

The last one they had in October 2011 they had almost 1200 cars show up.

May 25th and May 26th is Mopar weekend

Every month, we have:
- Thursday 7pm-?: Tune up Cruise-in at Dairy Queen on US 27 (stoplight #6)

- Friday Noon-2PM: Early Bird Meet & Greet/Q97 Live Remote from Visitors Center!
Friday Night 6pm-10pm: Walmart Blockparty in downtown Somerset

- Saturday 8-10am: Saturday Morning Fun Run with a scenic ride to a different place evey month. Breakfast is provided by Hardee's.
Show & Shine: Somernites Cruise gates open at 1pm and is time to show off your ride. (I checked and they do have criteria to get in since space is limited, they say:

Late model import AND domestic's may be admitted but, must have atleast three(3) visible major modifications including but, not limited to...

A. Body Mods (including graphics, body kits, tonneau covers, hoods, etc.)
B. Suspension Mods (raised, lowered, bagged, hydraulics)
C. Underhood modifications (substantial) will be considered in combination with external mods.

Now I know that 99% of our cars meet this criteria no problem, if anyone that wants to go that doesn't think they will meet that I will be in contact with the show people way before they get there so they will know that we are coming as a group and parking together. If anyone is questionable I will ask them if there will be an issue but I think if there are enough of us they will be ok with letting one or two slide. Or we can just put stickers all over you car, whatever works.

Cruise Highlight: Every month will have a special area for certain show cars.
Cruise-in The Strip: Cruise the 27 hwy strip with all of the cool cars beginning at 7pm.

Kids Kruze Zone: Kids want to have fun too. You will find the Kids Kruze Zone just north of Town Square in front of Citizens National Bank. Sponsored by Victory Christian Fellowship.

It is an 8 hour drive from my house to one of the hotels in the area so if we are going to go down on Thursday we need to leave pretty early so we can beat traffic, get to the hotel and get settled, have time to clean up the cars, and then get to the meetup Thursday night.

If there is instrest and we decide that we are going I will make a post on which hotel we are going to stay at and then hopefully everyone can book into the same hotel. Then we will decide on a meetup spot to drive down together and all that jazz. Planning on checking out Sunday morning whenever and heading back, its a real pretty drive and the last time I was down there I saw a lot of places that I wanted to stop and take pictures. OR my friend has a vineyard and I would have to check with him but we could head out to his place and spend a few hours taking pics then head out, depends on interest.

Any interest in heading down to Kentucky the end of May?

Stickers on your car! Like I said for anyone that wants to go but thinks they are "too stock" looking I will ask them and see if they will make exceptions since we are coming such a long way.

I'm interested. I'm always down for a good cruise. Especially if it's somewhere I've never been with cars i"ve never seen.

As long as I can get the time off...We might be interested in cruising down with the group...And hanging out Thursday night and Friday night...But Saturday I'd have to head to Arkansas for a family reunion...As soon as we have our vacation bid at work...I'll know more...

Damnnit.... I want to go, but i am gonna be in wisconson that weekend.........

While you're putting in vacation time, don't forget Woodward dream cruise the second week in August in detroit.

I just spent the last few mins looking through the pics of their past cruises and I saw stock Mustangs with hoods not popped parked with all the other cars. So I do not think they will turn anyone away from our group.

Asking anyone who wants to send good thoughts to the people in this area. They were hit by those storms yesterday. My friends that live in the area have been sending me pics and its just horrible.

it's really not even into tornado season yet either.... hope it doesn't get worse for them. one of my friends was posting pictures of the tornado's that she took with a hand held camera. crazy.

Tonight was their first one. Count of cars 957. Still don't know if I can do this one yet.

I'm out of this show...not going to do alot of traveling this year. I'm going to do the local hee-haw show in Harvard that weekend.

I am probably not going to get to do it either. A good bit of travel is in my future too it seems.
