Starved Rock Cruise - this is happening!

because Im not to familiar with that area, i dont know what all we can/there is to do down there, so I would need some help from others in that department. When I went last year, all we did was get out and walk around the park, so come on people, haha some input would be helpful here!!

So, I went on this cruise as a passenger with my roommate and the ChicagoMustangClub. The final number of cars was 61!!!!! That club doesnt seem to hang out much as a group like the CAMM folks. Got there and sorta went our own seperate ways, but with a group that large, its some what understandable. We could go walking on the trials while there, or set up a bbq and do some cooking if you all want. Like an "End of the season CAMM cook out". There are places to get food down there as well, if people would rather do that instead. We should start talking about what to do down there!! Judging the colors today, our weekend is going to be PERFECT!!!! Its not to late to sign up if you want to go!! Everyone is welcome. Here are some pictures and video's from the cruise I took today with the mustangs. There is a great video of my roommate playing with a nice 70's Cuda SuperBee on the expressway coming home! thats worth checking out! So again, anyone who wants to come, this is next sunday, October 9th!

Tom can you post up the route that you guys took? I want to see if I can set up a "route" from the North so we can meet up with people along the way.

Jontoad mentioned that there is a route that pretty much everyone takes so I want to base my route off of that one......

We were talking today at the UG about what we are going to do once there. I think it would be kind of cool to take pictures of our cars, AND OUR MEMBERS!, like a group shot and stuff like that. I have never been there so not sure how do-able that will be but I'm sure there are places along the way too.

I think the group at the UG was pretty much up for anything but it might just be easier to go out to eat (my opinion) especially if there are alot of people already in the park.

This has the map of the route. I think we should meet at Orland Square Mall since the route actually begins in Orland Park, just makes sense to me.

We can meet up with people at 12 and Dundee Rd, then some at Dave and Busters (since it seems like a good meeting spot and not too far off our path), then who ever is off of 294, then 55, and then 45 to the mall.

From McHenry, it's like an hour and a half to Orland Square Mall and then I think its another 1 1/2 hours to the park. so it's like we would meet halfway.

I don't know about times but if we all want to meet up in Orland by 11:30 then the Northern folks need to be leaving by 9:45/10:00 so we have time to stop and pick up more along the way.

Jackie, I like your ideas! they are great!! If you'd like, us people up north can meet up down the street from me at Golf Mill Mall at the corner of Golf Rd and Milwaukee ave. its right off of 294 and a good central location, with easy access back to 294. Then we can head out. We could meet up at golf mill at say 10am, then leave Golf Mill at 1030. Meet up at Orland Square Mall at 1130, roll out at 12, then cruise down.

just a friendly .... This is Sunday! At the moment, it appears we are going to have some absolutely GORGEOUS weather for this cruise!!
Parking together hopefully won't be an issue, since there are many parking areas, and we will probably find some good locations to take some group pictures as well. There are hiking paths and walking paths, along with as im told is a really nice waterfall somewhere along the hiking paths. There is a bar/restaurant in the park to get some drinks and food, but I was talking with Ray last night, and he mentioned he liked the idea of doing a bbq when we get there, which isnt a bad idea at all. Would anyone else like to do a bbq when there? If a bbq is something we'd like to do, we should talk about that as well. like who's bringing what and things. I havent used it in a few years, so i dont know its condition, but I might have a small portable grill I could bring along with some charcoal and fluid, somone else brings the animal flesh, others bring chips and drinks and such. So lets get these idea's flowing people!

BBQ's are nice when you are staying in one spot and have a pos ride to bring everything in I vote for enjoying the day with out the hassle of who's bringing what who's cooking what and who's cleaning what.

um...yea. you do realize that tornado was in 2004 right?

they rebuilt the entire town a long time ago. my sister had her rehearsal dinner for her wedding at Duffys many years ago and that was after the tornado went through Utica.

the idea of the bbq is cool, but yes, i agree it would be a bit of a hassle. Just enjoying the day is a good plan in my opinion. We should get an idea of who is going so we can set up meeting points and times. I would say for us people on the northside of things, why don't we meet up around 10am at Golf Mill Mall, and hit the road around 1030. that would put us at Orland Park Mall at about 1130am. So the people on that side of town, can meet at Orland Park Mall at 1130, and we hit the road at say 12pm??
