catch can question Empty
PostSubject: catch can question   catch can question I_icon_minitimeSeptember 19th 2010, 10:11 pm

hey guys i went to empty out my catch can and for some reason i had a really hard time getting it off, so i had to pull the two hoses and try to take it off ,but when i got it upside down the oil started to drain out and i was able to finally get the bottom part off. i was just wondering by the oil coming out through the top, did i ruin the top of the catch can or should i be ok?? thanks guys for any insight on this situation.

no your fine. that is normal.

without a catch can that is just a hose. all the catch can does is let the oil fall out before it returns to the intake. so the top of the catch can is just a cylinder with wall between the in hose and out hose. the bottom of the catch can lid is open allowing the oil to drop down to an overflow reservoir but the air to pass through the can.

You can put some oil on the O-ring when you screw it back on, and also dont tighten it too much. That will help it become easier to remove the next time you need to unscrew it.
