| So i'm having a bit of trouble finding these bulbs.. do they not make them, Hopefully someone knows something im missing... im looking for the Silverstar Ultra bulbs for my highbeams. As i've heard, the silverstars are the brightest you can go without going HID... so in comparing.. the Ultra, gives a bit more light and a bit more range than the regular Silverstars. However, i can't seem to find the correct size bulb.... They make the 9005SU, however that has a 90degree plug on it, which, sadly in our cars, doesnt fit, i know because i tried... so, does anyone know if they make this bulb with this plug type or where i can find them would be of great help to me... Thanks guys... i know the CAMM is great with this kind of stuff... | |

| I would say HIDS are going to help a bunch, more then Silverstars.
6000K instead of the blue 8000K

| i was the parts store yeasterday and was asking one of the store worker guys about the silverstars and the ultra silver stars. he was telling me that he had some and they only lasted a year. anyone else had them only last a year? i've always used sylvania bulbs (the regular ones) and think i MAY have replaced them once in 12 years on my car and not at all in a 04' exploder. I would hate to spend 50$ for bulbs that last a year. | |

| so its been a while since i was by this thread... sorry i havent gotten a hold of any of you who offered the help, been broke and busy... I thought about doing the HID for my high beams, since i already have an HID for my low's and fogs. However i would rather go with the Silverstar Ultra for my high beams, because the HID bulbs have a slight "warm up" period, which isnt very effective when "flash to pass" or those quick flashes of high beam light that are needed sometimes... The silverstars, being a standard halogen type bulb, will produce the light much faster with almost no "warm up" needed for the bulbs... Has anyone found the Silverstar Ultra 9005XS bulbs yet?? Remember that is the 9005 bulb with the straight plug, not the 90degree angled plug... | |

Hey Tom, you should read up on HID. They don't react well to constant flashing. There are only so many starts and they should only be started when you need to see at night and then left on for the duration of your trip. They wouldn't make suitable high beams, from what I've read.

| My question is why do you want to waste money on high beam bulbs that you will hardly ever use??? If those are $50, you can spend that on a catch can or something. | |

| I had all silverstars, I still do in my high beams and turn signals, I have HID's in the lows. I'm like 90% I got them at Pep Boys a while back.
The HID's are a better light. Another issue though, due to the fact the silverstars burn hotter, therefore burning out quicker. I went round and round with Sylvania with that issue through emails. They ended up sending me a set of replacement bulbs free of charger, and a free hat too!! Which I have NEVER wore LoL

| ok... let me just set this one straight.... I DO have an HID kit for my Low beams and my Fog's. I have stock High beam bulbs. I WANT the Silverstar ultra's for my High beams. I do NOT want HID's for my High beams. I want the silverstar ultras because they are super bright, but won't have a "warm up" time like an HID bulb has. I want super bright, because when people flash their highs at me, I flash right back, only i want to add salt to the wound by showing them "Mine are brighter than your's".... now, i know some of you might be saying "Well your HID's are probably too high, aim them down"... to which i will add that I have tested the "too bright/ too high" HID lights with numerous friends and neighbors... and not a one, has said "yeah they are too bright".... so... for those who want to flash their high beams at me again.. ill have something waiting for em.... | |

| I like what someone did with the reverse light he put HIDs in the sockets and has MEGA bright lights to show when he's backing up. But he wanted to create a switch to override the reverse signal and flash them when someone has their brights on. Not legal but hella fun to mess with people. | |

| For the ignorant (me), what is the advantage of HIDs? What is the factory bulb in our cars? | |

| HIDs have a few advantages really, Further range and a wider light pattern for one.... the light is more natural white unlike the standard Halogen bulbs which tend to be more yellowish.... most cars come with the Halogens including our chargers, unless you have the HID projector setup... with the HID light being more natural, and having more light period, it helps to relieve eye strain when driving in low light conditions... in other words... its easier for your eyes to adjust to changing light conditions around you | |

| the HID's also consume less power, which in return, although it is minimal, helps to reduce wear and tear on the alternator...... I saw the guy with the HID rear lights on the Z... thats was crazy bright for reverse lights.... I did see one mod i do want for my reverse lights, and thats the LED bulbs... LED's use less power too.... remember less power consumption= less strain on the system... | |
