| Go for a twin screw super charger. Turbos have lag. Supers are belt driven hp on demand. You can't do either one on the cheap. They are EXPENSIVE. I'm thinking of having Mr. Norms do a Kenny Bell twin screw in the Spring. | |

| I know that it won't be cheap, but one cost is lowered for me....I have a guy that will be getting me a turbo for free one of these days....and I don't really wanna mess with the intake and everything, so I figure a remote mount turbo should do the job nicely...
Also, I'm not looking for insane boost (yet)....just a modest 4-6psi...

| Do you have access to a mandrel bender for all the piping that will be needed for the turbo? | |

Yeah, you will need the kit for that turbo. Your boost will have to come from exhaust gas recovery and recycled back to the turbo. It isn't just bolt it on and plug and play.

| you will still have to mess with the intake for a remote mount. only it will be even harder because your piping will have to go all the way to where you mount the turbo instead of in the engine bay. the only up side for a remote mount is that you won't need custom turbo manifolds off the heads.
super charger is the easy way to go but tuning will still suck even with SCT on that truck.

| All the tubing for the build will most likely come from a friend....his dad owns a machine shop....he has ALL KINDS of tubing, mandrel bendes etc...
As for the intake, I meant the intake manifold/plenum...the part past the throttle body...that won't be altered at all...the "Intake" (I.e. The filter etc....) will all be redone to pipe down to the turbo, which will be pretty much right under the passenger's seat...I figure its easier to use the factory style y-pipe than to fab up a crossover for my truck, because there are no turbo kits for my truck....yet another reason to do it!!!
I also know that tuning will be a bitch, and I am prepared to deal with the headaches involved....
All in all I want this to be a build that a lot of people say can't be done....just to prove them wrong....I love this forum because you guys and gals haven't said "you can't afford it" or "it can't be done properly" like almost everyone over on dakota-durango.com.....I have a 4 page thread over there that's full of nay-saying posts...here there seems to be encouragement!!!! There's also some knowledge here that the other site didn't have....great to have!!!!!!

| ah well if thats what you were talking about with intakes. then either of them wont touch the intake. there is only one supercharger for our trucks that would - the kenne bell, which no one uses anyways due to tuning issues. other than that they don't make one that changes the manifold. only twin screw and roots style do. every other kit out there for dakotas is centrifugal which just bolt on a bracket as an engine accessory with an intake tube to the TB.
i would go with an M1 manifold if you were gonna be doing a performance build anyways.
i do have a powedyne headunit and most of the mounting hardware somewhere in my garage if you want it. i don't plan to use it again. my truck will be 408 6-speed or 6.1 5-speed someday. i don't plan on using forced induction again.

| if i can find it you can have it. i don't have any of the fuel system. just the headunit. the hardware for it was in another box so i would have to track that down too... it somewhere above my garage...
i think the headunit has about 20,000 miles on it. i have no idea how long the internal belt lasts for, its a enclosed unit that doesn't need oiling. but you can send the headunit back to powerdyne for a rebuild for like 200 bux if you have to.

Thanks sooooo much Jontoad....you da man!!!!! its much more simple than a turbo, so yea. probably 24lb injectors and SCT. it has a 6lb pully on it but you would see about 5.5lbs of boost. ill have to see if i can find the intake tube, it had a bosch blow off valve on it from a porsche. i had a custom bracket for the stock tensioner too, ill have to see if i can find that. like i said id have to ask my dad where he put it, its in his garage. hopefully the hardware is there but im 100% sure the headunit is.
