Someone buy this product and let me know how it does.

http://www.snobootz.com/

Conceptually, it looks like it would work pretty well.

What's the skepticism? That it will shift on the tire?

Do you have an extra set of rims? Or do you just throw the tires in the trunk and head to the tire shop to have them mounted every Fall?

I am reading skepticism, but based on what? Shawn, you've looked at these? Were they poor quality?

I'm trying to figure out if these are a viable solution for times when the roads are around here are nearly impassable. I get two skepticals, one I'll slap someone who buys them, one they're too expensive, and one I have other tires I use.

Other than what may a excessive price tag, what are the drawbacks of such a product?

Luvs luvs luvs snow and winter.

Last winter I drove the car every day with my reg street tires. Had to go slower, had to brake earlier, slid around a bit but no major problems thankfully. But since a lot of you have more power then me I can see why you would need other options.

do you have the Goodyear F1's? if you do your gonna want other tires or something. i tried to drive my car in winter one day during snow and no matter how good of a driver you are the F1's are like driving on rocks in the winter. in autostick you can throw it in second gear to start with less torque if you want but stopping is almost non existent. i remember sliding right at a traffic circle at about 15 mph. i couldn't stop at all no matter what i tried so i just turned the wheel and feathered the throttle. somehow i steered it out but i thought my rims or front fascia was goin down, i have no idea how i didn't hit any curbs that time. lol.

i keep the car in the garage in the winter now. my truck is not much better because it has 4.56 gears and 20inch rims too. so i take the 20inch rims off and put my 17 inch rims on instead with dunlop wintersport m3 tires. then i put my summer wheels and tires in the bed with 6 40lb. salt bags.

liljoejoe bought Michelin X-ice tires for his charger from me. he takes his challenger wheels of his charger and puts the factory 18's with the Michelin snow tires on and has NO problems. tires make all the difference.

once you try true snow tires you will never go back to all seasons or hokey tire cover bullshit again. plus you would have to buy 2 sets of those snowboots because stopping and handling is more important than starting at stoplights in the winter. just putting on 2 snow boots on the back would be stupid in my opinion.

look into finding some 18inch wheels that will clear the brakes on the srt and some snow tires all around the car. i know there are some ASA wheels that clear they use on lxforums.com

Mine's in the garage, too. I have an Intrepid that I use in the Winter. It does pretty good, but I've had occasions where literaly hours were added to my driving time because of all the crap on the road. Last year (or maybe the year before) I got stuck on a hill on Algonquin road for like three hours. I think I would have made it up the hill, but I had to stop because of the cars ahead of me. The 4x4s just went around everyone.

That's what I'd like to get next, Crystal. A Wrangler with a stick-shift. I'd just like my Intrepid to last long enough to pay off the Charger first.
